Final Day

Posted by Cathy - 09:45 on 26 July 2011

Hi all,

Well thats it! Day 14 had us finishing of our final section drawings, laying down terram to protect the surfaces of the areas we want to reopen next year and backfilling! backfilling! backfilling! The day was finished off in great style with a sunny! BBQ and a beer or two :)

Thankyou all for a wonderful dig and great company - and most of all thanks for all your hard work! Hope to see you all next year.

Cheers,

Cathy and Cait

Thanks to you Cathy and Cait. It was indeed a wonderful dig, always harmonious and very well organised thanks to you two and the kind hospitality of the Munro family. I learned a great deal, my enthusiasm for archeology has increased and the company was great. It was good to finish with the BBQ and to listen to Alpha's music group on such a charming site, especially as the weather and midge gods were nice to us.

Fantastic two weeks with two wonderfully inspiring Tutors. How patient you were! We experienced the essence of solidarity and community and learnt more than I ever imagined about Archaeological Excavation. Stratification stratification! Amazing how much there is to find in one small space. Ever with us was a sense of magic timelessness yet also time pocketed in glimpses of the past. Still lots to reflect on. It was thrilling to hold a chert and imagine who had held and worked with it last. Secrets in the earth!

Thank you Thank you Thank you for making the Dig happen - to next year!
