INTRODUCTION TO ARCHAEOLOGY
With LACHLAN & LYNNE McKEGGIE from ARCH HIGHLAND
Sunday 18th August 2013, 2 – 4:30pm
Join Lachlan and Lynne of ARCH for an introduction to Scottish archaeology and local sites. Find out how to get to know your local archaeology, how to identify artefacts, and how not to upset the Queen. Bring a waterproof/sunhat as some of the workshop will take place outside.
The workshop will involve a brief look at the different periods and the archaeology that each age has left behind. It will focus as much as possible on local examples and also provide a chance to get hands on with some artefacts. Finally we will investigate some of the ideas and methodologies that have shaped archaeology and our understanding of the past.
Places are free but limited so please book as soon as possible. Booking forms and further information are available from the Writers’ Centre. The course finishes at approximately 3.30pm with a quick lunch, teas and coffees provided.
It would be greatly appreciated if those attending the course could lend a hand in the garden for an hour or so after our finish time as the Beechgrove filming is just around the corner!
