Talk: POSTPONED DUE TO ILLNESS Storegga Tsunami ...

14 March 2015

Starts: 19:30

Talk on Storegga Tsunami at Scourie Hall

The North West Highlands Geopark and Scourie Hall Association are pleased to welcome a guest speaker from the University of Edinburgh. Kristian Pedersen enjoys working with community archaeology groups and has a strong interest in the consequences of the Storegga tsunami on coastal settlements in Britain 10,000 years ago. The tsunami, triggered by a landslip in Norway had a dire impact on the early settlers of the British Isles and has been investigated in Orkney and Shetland. Kristian believes the narrow fjords in the North West Highlands would have intensified the rise in the tsunami and is looking for evidence... Charge £4 includes tea and biscuits.
