Learn how to do a standing building survey with Lynne McKeggie of ARCH. As part of Evanton Community Trust´s Old Kiltearn Kirk project, we will learn how to ´read´ and record the remains of the 18th century church which incorporates a number of medieval features. No experience necessary.
The first two sessions will take place indoors at Evanton Church Hall on Wednesday and Thursday 14th & 15th June, 6:30-8:30, where participants will learn some of the basics.
Then we will have three days recording at the old kirk:
Saturday, 17th June, 10-3
Sunday, 18th June, 2-5
Saturday, 24th June, 10-3

Community excavation investigating Cluny Hill, Forres, a large hillfort enclosure identified after a LiDAR survey. Volunteers are asked to commit to at least two full days / four half days. No prior experience is required – just a desire to work as part of team to discover more about Moray’s past. All necessary training will be provided, along with additional opportunities to learn about various aspects of archaeology and Scotland’s past at the Falconer Museum. Volunteers must be 16+.
