Recent Excavations at Craig Phadraig Hillfort

Mary Peteranna will talk about recent excavations at this important vitrified hillfort near Inverness. Severe winter storms in January 2015 caused damage to Craig Phadrig hillfort where windblown trees exposed a section of the inner rampart. In February, AOC Archaeology and West Coast Archaeological Services conducted an emergency archaeological evaluation on behalf of Forestry Commission Scotland with the consent of Historic Scotland, to assess the level of damage and record the nature of surviving archaeological deposits prior to site clean-up and stabilisation.

Explore the archaeology and history of Academy Street on the Highland HER and get your hands on the museum objects that bring to life the street’s ancient and more recent past. Come and share your memories and find out more about our city heritage

Come and curate Inverness Old Town Heritage with team members from Inverness Museum, Highland Archives and the Highland Council Historic Environment Team. Our High Life Highland Team will give tuition in ´Behind the Scenes´ skills and assist you in researching and exhibiting items from the collections that will bring to life Academy Street´s amazing history.

£3.50 per workshop.

From 29 April - 27 May, Every Wednesday, 1:30 - 3:30pm at Inverness Museum

An opportunity to research, interpret and exhibit our Roman Iron Age Collections. You will work alongside curators from Inverness Museum & Art Gallery and the National Museum of Scotland, specialist illustrators, photographers and a contemporary artist to tell the amazing story of Inverness’ Roman Iron Age past in our Ground Floor Gallery this autumn, Participants are requested to take part in the whole series. This programme is supported by the Art Fund’s Treasure Plus Programme.

Special rate of £2 per workshop for those quoting ARCH when booking.
