The Nation Live – Give Yourself a Medal

Two full day Workshops 5th – 6th September 2012

People aged between 16 – 25 years are being invited to this fantastic opportunity to express themselves through working with molten metal.   Participants will work with artists Kevin Reid and Ginny Hutcheson at their mobile foundry to create a medal that represents who they are!  The medal they produce will last forever.

The process will be filmed and the medals displayed in an exhibition in the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, alongside original medals from the Jacobite era.

The full day workshops will take place at Inverness Museum and Art Gallery from 10am – 4pm on both the 5th and 6th September 2012.  Participants are invited to sign up for both days.

To join the workshops call 0131 624 6422 or email: thenationlive@nationalgalleries.org

Visit www.nationalgalleries.org/nationlive  for more information, photographs of the foundry in action and to watch the project film trailer.

Book now, as places are limited and this is likely to be a very popular opportunity!

If you feel it would help your group to find out more about the workshops before booking the National Galleries’ Outreach Officer, Richie Cumming, would be delighted to come and give a presentation to show just what can be done in two days at a forge!  He can be contacted at 0131 624 6422 and thenationlive@nationalgalleries.org
