Workshop: Using Heritage Databases [Evanton]

organisation:
ARCH Highland

30 January 2013, Starts: 19:00, Ends: 21:30

Information about our heritage is held in two databases available on the internet. The Highland Council Historic Environment Record (HER) contains records dealing with the Highland Council area. The RCAHMS Canmore database has information for all of Scotland. Both databases now encourage local people to submit photographs and information – and as ARCH courses have shown over and over, local people can make significant contributions to our local heritage knowledge.

This workshop, will explore both the HER and Canmore, so that participants will have a good idea of how to discover more about local heritage and then to contribute. If you have a picture of a local site, bring it along and we will aim to contribute at least some of them.

Meet in the Cornerstone Cafe, Evanton. If you need a lift do get in touch and we will try to arrange car share or transport.
