Tales and Music from Highland Perthshire [Cromarty]

23 June 2013, Starts: 16:00

Bob Pegg, Christina Stewart and Bill Taylor present Tales and Music from Highland Perthshire at the Cromarty Stables, on Sunday afternoon 23rd June 2013.

The programme combines Perthshire stories with songs in Gaelic and Scots/English, and tunes played on the ancient wire-strung clarsach. The
production centres around stories collected by Lady Evelyn Stewart Murray (1868-1940) of Blair Castle, which were taken from local informants and
preserved in twelve manuscript volumes using their unique dialect and usage of native Perthshire Gaelic. Bob, Christina and Bill will present Lady Evelyn’s tales as they might have been heard at a traditional ceilidh, with a mix of stories (re-told in English), songs and music.

Tickets cost £10, £8 and £3 - suitable for adults and older children.

The show has been very well received at the Pitlochry Book Festival, and the Scottish Storytelling Centre in Edinburgh.
