The Thingsite of Dingwall – its origins in time and in context”

The Highland Council (Dingwall and Seaforth) and the Dingwall History Society warmly invite you to attend the above event, which will mark the culmination of Dingwall’s participation in the International Thing Project. This event will be held in The Highland Council Offices, High Street, Dingwall, on Wednesday 25th September, beginning at 7pm with light refreshments.

The book, “Things in the Viking World”, edited by Olwyn Owen and published by the Thing Project, will receive its Dingwall launch that evening. Dr Oliver O’Grady will present his report on archaeological investigations in the Cromartie Car Park, a report which will include radio-carbon dating of the origin and character of the Dingwall Thing Mound. David MacDonald will present his historically investigative report into Dingwall as a Viking Thingsite, placing it into the context of saga and Scottish history. Both these reports were commissioned by The Highland Council on behalf of the Thing Project.
