Quilts as Visual Records

Inverness Museum and Art Gallery, Room to Discover

Textile historian and author, Janet Rae, will explore the MacKintosh of Farr chintz applique quilted coverlet
that will be on exhibition. By examining its provenance, materials and methods of construction, we can discover its connection to 19th century trade, industry, skills education and migration.

2.15 - 3.30pm This lecture will be followed by a free demonstration of quilting techniques, given by Sheena Norquoy, freelance quilting teacher and member of The Quilters’ Guild.
