Recent Excavations at Craig Phadraig Hillfort

(NOTE: This is a change from originally scheduled talk on this date)

Dingwall Community Centre, 7:30pm (doors open 7pm)

Mary Peteranna will talk about recent excavations at this important vitrified hillfort near Inverness. Severe winter storms in January 2015 caused damage to Craig Phadrig hillfort where windblown trees exposed a section of the inner rampart. In February, AOC Archaeology and West Coast Archaeological Services conducted an emergency archaeological evaluation on behalf of Forestry Commission Scotland with the consent of Historic Scotland, to assess the level of damage and record the nature of surviving archaeological deposits prior to site clean-up and stabilisation.
