Memories of Skibo [Dornoch]

01 July 2015, Starts: 18:00, Ends: 21:00

Memories of Skibo

An event to collect memories of the Skibo estate.

Dornoch Social Club, 6-9pm.

Today, The Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle is the largest private
employer in the region, but the number of people who work at Skibo today is dwarfed by the numbers who lived and worked on the estate in the past when, during the Carnegie family era, the estate was over 20,000 acres and encompassed Clashmore to the east and Bonar Bridge to the west.

For much of the twentieth century there were few in the region who could not claim a connection to Skibo and we invite those people who grew up or worked on the estate over the years - or whose parents or grandparents did - to come along on the evening of Wednesday 1st July anytime between 6pm and 9pm to share their memories of Skibo and any photographs they may have for us to record for the Skibo archive. Any material gathered on the night will also be shared with Historylinks,
Dornoch.

On the evening there will be a small exhibition on the history of
Skibo as well as a slide-show presentation showing Skibo through the years. All are welcome to attend and refreshments will be provided.
