Reflections on Excavations at Lairg

Rod McCullagh, formerly of Historic Envronment Scotland, revisits important excavations of the prehistoric landscape south of Lairg, reflecting on people, the problems, the puzzles, the opportunities and other things he did not properly acknowledge. He will discuss the context of this large project, how it came about, how the team approached it, how they planned it and how far they strayed from those plans, and what fun they had. He will then discuss what was learnt, what gaps were left and whether these have been filled. Finally, he outlines what Lairg 2, 3 and 4 might look like.
