08 June 2024, Starts: 10:00

Postponed to 22nd June

Isle Martin Trust will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the first fishing station in Loch Broom, 13 years before the founding of Ullapool. If you don’t know the story of Isle Martin Herring station and its amazing buildings, then come along to the island for a guided tour led by local archaeologist Cathy Dagg. Cathy will be charting the herring’s historical role in the economic and social development in the Loch Broom Area.

Free but donations welcome

Boats leaving Ardmair IMT jetty from 10am (first come first served)

There will also be films recording the herring’s recent return to former breeding grounds, giving hope for the future of this iconic fish and the health of our seas. And for anyone feeling creative, have some fun creating a shoal of  herring with local artists Lesley Strachan & Julia Barton.
