Guided Tour of Isle Martin Fishing Station

Isle Martin Trust will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the first fishing station in Loch Broom, 13 years before the founding of Ullapool. If you don’t know the story of Isle Martin Herring station and its amazing buildings, then come along to the island for a guided tour led by local archaeologist Cathy Dagg. Cathy will be charting the herring’s historical role in the economic and social development in the Loch Broom Area.

Boats leaving Ardmair IMT jetty from 10am (first come first served)
Please wear sturdy footwear & dress for changes in the weather
There will also be films recording the herring’s recent return to former breeding grounds, giving hope for the future of this iconic fish and the health of our seas. And for anyone feeling creative, have some fun creating a shoal of herring with local artists Lesley Strachan & Julia Barton.
