Reconstructing medieval lifeways from bioarchaeology

Dr Curtis-Summers is lecturer in Archaeological and Forensic Sciences and programme lead for MSc. Human Osteology and Palaeopathology at the University of Bradford. She specialises in human osteology and stable isotope analysis with a particular focus on medieval Scotland. She has studied the Portmahomack skeletal assemblage to reconstruct aspects of past diet, disease and trauma, and most recently has worked with the Cold Case Whithorn team to investigate diet and mobility at early medieval Whithorn.
This talk will focus on key findings from her analysis of the human remains from Portmahomack and reveal insights into the lives of the Pictish and medieval communities at the site.
