Meeting: A New Inverness Cultural Centre? [Inverness] ...

06 May 2014

Starts: 18:00
Ends: 20:00

** A NEW INVERNESS CULTURAL CENTRE?
** A Local Conversation
------------------------------------------------------------
Tuesday 6th May 6:00pm – 8:00pm
Glenmoriston Town House Hotel, Ness Bank, Inverness

The Highland Council is committed to regenerating Inverness city centre and is exploring the idea of developing a new cultural facility in Inverness city centre which might play a central role in that.

However the decision on whether this project is the right way forward has not yet been taken.

The concept is at a very early stage and, before any decisions are taken, the Council wants to involve the community to help shape the thinking and planning. The Council has asked High Life Highland to organise an initial opportunity for local people to have a conversation about what they would want such a facility to do for the city.

A workshop, which will be run by an independent organisation, will look to other places and projects for inspiration and then work with participants to identify what outcomes they would want for Inverness.

If a decision is eventually taken to take this project forward, much more consultation will be undertaken with the people of Inverness, the wider Highlands and other interested parties.

The local conversation workshop will be held at the Glenmoriston Town House Hotel, Ness Bank, Inverness on Tuesday 6th May, 6.00pm –8.00pm

If you would like to attend please RSVP to High Life Highland on 01463 663800 or at hlh.business.support@highlifehighland.com

Ledmore & Migdale Memories [Dornoch] ...

06 May 2014

Starts: 14:00
Ends: 16:00

Ledmore and Migdale Memories

Come share memories or learn about the heritage in and around the forest! The Ledmore and Migdale Woodland Project has organised sessions to be run by Susan Kruse of ARCH. Everyone is invited to come and share memories of the heritage of the area, and especially those concerning the woods. In particular we’re interested in memories of planting and felling, of sawmills in the area, of wartime Canadian forestry workings, and of settlements in and around the wood. If you have old maps or photographs please bring them too! Everyone is welcome – even if you only want to come and find out more.

Sessions will take place on Tuesday, 29th April, 6th and 13th May, 2-4pm at Dornoch Social Club and 7-9pm at Bonar Bridge Community Hall. Come to whichever is more convenient. Free – and coffees and teas are provided. Results from these sessions will be pooled together and a display created.

Organised by Woodland Trust as part of the Peoples and Trees project. Workshops to be led by Susan Kruse of ARCH. For further information contact Susan on 01349 868230 (leave message) or info@archhighland.org.uk
