Come and discover the collection in Am Fasgadh at the Highland Folk Museum, with one of our knowledgeable tour guides. Tours last approx. an hour and we welcome donations. You can book in person at the museum, call 01349 781650 or e-mail highland.folk@highlifehighland.com

The collection today represents the rich and varied material and non-material culture from the geographically large area of the Highlands and Islands from the 17th century to recent times.  The emphasis is on rural and domestic life, where representation is through groups of unique, vernacular artefacts including ‘domestic life’ from bakestones to box beds, ‘agricultural’ from subsistence farming through to developed mechanised farming, ‘crafts and trades’ from early wooden looms through to ‘travellers’ items and whisky distilling and ‘vernacular architecture’ from 18th century timber frames to 20th century community kit buildings.

Jacobite Treasures from the Archive

This event is a drop-in afternoon with a display of documents showing the role Inverness and the wider Highlands played in the Jacobite Risings of 1688/89, 1715, 1719 , and 1745/46.  The story will be told through a diverse range of archive material from church minutes, town council claims for compensation, personal statements, maps, battle plans, and other documents.  This event is free and forms part of the national Jacobite Festival.
