ARCH Workshop: Putting Scotland's Women on the Map [Alness] ...

25 February 2013

Starts: 19:30

Putting Scotland's Women on the Map

Workshop led by Morag Smith, Glasgow Women's Library.

Alness Heritage Centre [NOTE change of venue from usual ARCH Lectures]

Many women have contributed to the life and history of Scotland. Memorials such as statues, plaques, street signs, bridges or buildings have helped to keep these women´s names alive and commemorate their achievements. The Women of Scotland website, part of a project run by the Glasgow Women's Library and Women's History Scotland, is encouraging people to find and record memorials celebrating women in Scotland, contributing to their online map on the website http://www.womenofscotland.org.uk/. The Highlands are noticeably sparse and we can help to change this! Morag Smith from the Glasgow Women's Library will be coming up to give an ARCH workshop on Monday 25th February at Alness Heritage Centre (note change of venue from normal ARCH lectures), at 7:30. She will also be leading workshops as part of the WEA Women@Work project in Inverness (Monday 25th, 1-3:30pm) and Brora (Tuesday, 26th February, 1:30-4pm, venue to be confirmed), open to any women in these areas.Further details of the Women@Work workshops are available from Cath Findlay at womenatwork@weascotland.org.uk or 01463 710577.
