Exhibition opening, including ‘Ceilidh’, Saturday 5th April, 2pm.

CREATE AN INVERNESS STORYMAP
We are inviting you to come together with storyteller Bob Pegg and artist John Hodkinson to produce a unique, colourful story-map based on traditional, historical and personal tales of Inverness and the city's surrounding area.

There will be two workshops. The first on the 26th February, with Bob Pegg, will explore local folk tales and legends, as well as offering plenty of space for participants to share their own reminiscences and family memories which could become part of the map.

The second workshop, on Tuesday 4th March, will be with both John and Bob. Together, the group will discuss how the stories can be represented visually and arranged on the map, and look at ways of creating suitable images.
The map will be printed on canvas, and will be exhibited as part of ‘Needed on a Journey’, the community curated exhibition opening on Saturday 5th April, as part of High Life Highland’s contribution to the ‘My Heart is in the highlands’ 2014 Homecoming Project.

You don't have to be a native of Inverness to take part in this project! We believe that everyone from those born within the Burgh bounds to those who have chosen to make their home here will have interesting tales to tell and share.

Bob Pegg is a storyteller, musician and author, based in Strathpeffer. His recent publications include Highland Folk Tales and The Little Book of Hogmanay, both for The History Press. John Hodkinson is a graduate of the Royal College of Art, and was Senior Lecturer in Graphics at the University of Central Lancashire until his retirement in 2009. Bob and John have collaborated frequently over the past 50 years, and John is the illustrator of Bob's two books for The History Press.

These workshops are FREE, but booking is essential, as places are limited.
