1) Multi-period remains at Ashaig on Skye – John MacLeod

John MacLeod describes the rich remains at Ashaig near Broadford on Skye, from prehistoric remains to modern limekilns.

John MacLeod has lived on Skye all his life, and has a passionate interest in the local heritage and Gaelic culture. A keen hillwalker, he has explored much that the island has to offer, and was a mountain rescue volunteer.

2) What do we need to know?: Contributing to the Highland Regional ScARF – Susan Kruse (ARCH)

The Highland Regional ScARF project is providing an overview of Highland heritage from earliest settlers to modern times, comparing the regional picture to the National ScARF project (www.scarf.scot). This short talk focusses on work so far, and invites people to consult on the draft chapters, in particular highlighting what they think are the main gaps in our knowledge.

Susan Kruse is the Learning and Engagement Manager at ARCH, which she co-founded in 2009. She has led many projects investigating Highland archaeology and heritage, from earliest times to 20th century remains, and is a passionate supporter of community involvement. For the last two years she has been coordinating the Highland Regional ScARF project.
