Walks and Talks in the next two weeks

A quick reminder of some talks and activities happening in the next couple of weeks. 

Monday, 20th May. Uncovering a Pictish Kingdom.
Martin Carver and Gordon Noble will speak about Portmahomack and the launch of a new project focussing on ‘The Archaeology of Fortriu’. Tain Parish Chuch Hall, 7:30pm

Tuesday, 21st May. ‘Memorable Tales: A History of the Workers’ Educational Association (WEA) in the Highlands’
A chance to share memories and find out more about the WEA, which has provided adult education learning opportunities, including a large number focussing on local heritage, throughout the years. Dingwall Community Centre, 6-7pm; Coffees and teas provided.

Wednesday, 22nd May. Every object tells YOUR story.
A workshop at Inverness Museum and Art Gallery where participants will tour the
archaeology gallery and the museum's reserve store, choose an object for display in the gallery and write a label. Bookings essential to cait.mccullagh@highlifehighland.com or 01463 237114.

Saturday, 25th May. Nigg Old Trust Archaeological Field Walk
A walk led by Lachlan & Lynne McKeggie of ARCH. Meet at the Nigg Old Church, 2pm. Followed by refreshments in the Nigg Village Hall.

Monday, 27th May. ‘Thomas Telford, ‘Colossus of Roads’
ARCH lecture for May. Professor Roland Paxton, noted expert on Telford, will speak about Telford’s achievements in the Highlands. Millburn Academy, Inverness, 7:30pm. Suggested donation £3.

Thursday, 30th May. ‘Memorable Tales: A History of the Workers’ Educational Association (WEA) in the Highlands’
A repeat of the WEA event (see 21st May), to be held at Inverness Library (Reading Room), 12:30-1:30.

Saturday, 1st June. Evanton Wartime Remains Open Day
An opportunity to see the results of the ARCH project so far, and to share memories and pictures. Cornerstone Cafe, Evanton, 10-2. Further information about the project can be found by clicking here
