New Course: Knockbain Heritage

29 April 2014

A new course exploring the rich heritage of Knockbain parish in the Black Isle will start at the beginning of May. Sponsored by Knockbain Community Council, with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, a series of courses and events run by ARCH will provide opportunities for all ages.

The first course will invite people to share memories, stories and knowledge of buildings, sites and finds from the area - those that have disappeared, modified or are still standing. ARCH has run similar sessions elsewhere in the Black Isle, in Strathpeffer, Tain and Kiltarlity, and they always result in a lively exchange and a huge amount of information. Everyone is invited to attend, whether to share memories or to learn about local heritage in the area.
Wednesdays, 7th, 14th, 21st May, Munlochy Hall, 7-9:30pm. Free.

This will be followed by course providing a heritage overview to place these in context. Find out about the heritage of the area, from the earliest settlers over 9,000 years ago to recent times. This course assumes no previous knowledge.
Wednesdays: 28th May, 7th, 11th, 18th and 25th June, Munlochy Hall, 7-9:30pm. Free.

Later there will be walks and a chance to research any aspects of interest. If you would like further information, or to be kept informed of events, contact the ARCH office on 01349 868230 (leave message) or info@archhighland.org.uk, or see www.archhighland.org.uk
