The latest issue of the ARCH newletter has just been published, and copies are available in the Library on the website. It includes details of the courses running this spring:

  • Pathways into the Past practical survey course and Reporting on the Past course in Alness
  • Heritage on the Kyle Line course in Dingwall
  • Delve into the Past pre-excavation course in Alness in June, following by Community Excavation at Foulis in July.

There are also details on travelling exhibitions, lectures, walks and much more.

Check out also the Events diary on the ARCH website for other heritage lectures, courses and activities which have come our way. These include

  • a chance to learn about nautical archaeology at the Crannog Centre in Kenmore on 30th April
  • an exciting excavation programme by Caithness Archaeology Trust and AOC focussing on brochs
  • the Rhind lecture series in Edinburgh 29th April-1st May, where Dr Stuart Needham will focus on the Bronze Age. These lectures are free and open to all, and you can dip into those you want to attend.
  • A one day conference  organised by the Socttish Maps Forum in Perth on 7th May for those of you who love old maps. This year the focus is Routes across the Map: Catrography, travel and transport in Scotland.

As usual, if you hear of anything else happening, do let us know!
